Not-for-profit hospital extends and further expands portfolio to include integrated registration, scheduling tools and medication management solutions

CHICAGO, Nov. 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) today announced that Hospital for Special Care, in New Britain, Connecticut, expanded and extended its commitment to Allscripts through 2026, creating a long, productive and innovative collaboration with the organization. With this expansion, the organization’s portfolio will now include Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances, Surescripts Medical History Acute, and Sunrise™ Enterprise Registration and Scheduling to support the organization’s strategic medication management initiatives.

HSC is recognized for advanced care and rehabilitation in pulmonary care, acquired brain injury, medically-complex pediatrics, neuromuscular disorders including ALS research, spinal cord injury, comprehensive heart failure and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient treatment for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.

In July 2018, The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recognized The Autism Center at Hospital for Special Care as the nation’s first and only level-three Patient Centered Specialty Practice (PCSP). Level-three recognition is the highest that a specialty practice can achieve. The Autism Center first achieved level-one PCSP designation in 2015. The hospital uses Allscripts Sunrise™ and met the six core measures of specialty practice standards, each with multiple weighted elements and factors:

1. Track and coordinate referrals 2. Provide access and communication 3. Identify and coordinate patient populations 4. Plan and manage care 5. Track and coordinate care 6. Measure and improve performance

Sunrise is an integrated suite of solutions for emergency, acute, ambulatory, revenue cycle and patient administration. Used by many of the leading hospitals and health systems in the world, Sunrise is a highly configurable solution that offers clinician-specific workflows that help drive adoption of clinical decision support that can lead to improved outcomes.

In addition, the organization’s latest NCQA recognition was for its Gawlicki Family COPD Disease Management program. This hallmark of high-quality access, communication and coordinated care reflects the dedication of Hospital for Special Care’s clinical team, the skillful integration of data driven care supported by its information technology team and partnership with Allscripts.

“The continued collaboration between Allscripts and Hospital for Special Care will help us deliver our mission to promote health and well-being for our patients,” said Lynn Ricci, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hospital for Special Care. “We are committed to working with Allscripts to ensure the highest quality of care in our community and are already preparing for our next PCSP submission for Parkinson’s Disease treatment.”

“Hospital for Special Care is addressing the healthcare needs of the growing segments within its community, such as people with autism spectrum disorders, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and Parkinson’s disease,” said Allscripts Chief Executive Officer, Paul Black. “We congratulate the hospital on its many successes and are honored to partner with the nation’s first and only level-three Patient Centered Specialty Practice to help deliver greater outcomes to its populations.”
