DeKALB – Richard McGinnis of DeKalb has been awarded a $2,500 donation to be made in his name to breast cancer awareness organization Positively Pink Packages.

According to a news release from First National Bank’s Omaha, Neb., headquarters, McGinnis was one of two winners nationwide in the bank’s Pink Debit Card Donation contest.

Positively Pink Packages is a nonprofit organization that has a chapter in DeKalb County, and provides vital resources to breast cancer patients free of charge. The organization delivers care packages with post-surgery pillows, DVDs, and inspirational and educational books for patients throughout the county.

McGinnis was automatically entered in the drawing because he used his First National Pink Debit Card during the month of October, which is nationally Breast Cancer Awareness Month, according to the news release.

The bank began offering the pink card in 2016 as a way to support breast cancer awareness. According to the news release, 16,000 customers now carry the First National Bank pink card.
