Rhode Island gas prices down 5 cents per gallon, to $2.72
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Rhode Island has dropped 5 cents in the past week.
AAA Northeast reported Tuesday that the decrease is the largest one-week drop this year.
AAA says its weekly price survey found self-serve, regular averaging $2.72 per gallon, which is 4 cents higher than the national average, and 14 cents higher than the in-state price a year ago.
AAA spokesman Lloyd Albert says prices could plunge even lower, especially if there’s a surge in gasoline production after refiners fully restart units following the fall maintenance season.
AAA found self-serve, regular selling for as low as $2.52 per gallon to as high as $2.99.
