Amateur Soccer | Rochester FC 2, Dakota FC 0
It was a winning home opener for Rochester FC as it downed Dakota FC 2-0 in United Premier Soccer League action Saturday at Rochester Regional Stadium.
It was also a bit of a nerve-wracking one for the Rochester FC players and coaches. First games in front of the home fans will do that.
“Playing in front of family for the first time, the nerves got to us a little bit,” Rochester FC player Midhat Mujic said. “But we then collected ourselves and played well.”
It was Mujic who got Rochester FC started, scoring on a free kick at the 19th-minute mark.
Rochester FC’s second goal went to Lonyjera Okal. He scored in the 80th minute, converting an assist from Esad Mujic.
Rochester FC dominated the game, with 11 shots on goal compared to just five for Dakota FC.
Rochester FC improved to 3-1-0 in the UPSL and overall. It plays again next Saturday, hosting Flora FC at Rochester Regional Stadium.
