Hastings man sues Kraft after unknowingly eating shards of glass allegedly in lunch meat

April 16, 2019

A Hastings man has sued Kraft Foods, alleging he was injured after unknowingly eating shards of glass that he says were in the lunch meat he bought at a local Walmart store.

Yaset Louis Vasquez originally filed the lawsuit in Adams County District Court in December. Friday, the case was moved to U.S. District Court in Omaha.

In the complaint, Lincoln attorney Jon Rehm said Vasquez had to seek medical treatment and was left with about $22,000 in medical bills after he unknowingly consumed the glass while eating Kraft lunch meat he bought at the Hastings Walmart store on Oct. 17, 2015.

He didn’t identify the specific type of lunch meat.

Rehm said it caused his client “physical pain and mental suffering, humiliation and inconvenience.”

Kraft hasn’t yet responded to the lawsuit.
