School’s out! State Fair, popular destinations are open if you’re ready to get out
School is out for another day and, assuming there are no trees blocking your way out of the neighborhood, you might be ready to explore.
Luckily, there is A LOT happening today. Here are some ideas if it’s time to get out of the house.
The N.C State Fair’s delayed opening is 10 a.m., today, Friday, Oct. 12, at the state fairgrounds in west Raleigh. If you go, here are links to all kinds of fair-related content to help you map out your visit. And, don’t forget parents of tweens and teens, YouTube stars Rhett & Link will be on the Dorton Arena stage tonight!
The Raleigh museum is open regular hours - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its IMAX theater includes showings of Flight of the Butterflies at 10 a.m., Backyard Wilderness at 11 a.m., Pandas at noon, and First Man 2D at 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:55 p.m. (First Man is rated PG-13.)
Both the history museum and natural sciences museum are open regular hours - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The natural sciences museum has showings in its 3D theater, along with a slate of daily programs that include storytime with live animals and meet the animals.
The Durham museum is open regular hours - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Chapel Hill destination is open today with a couple of planetarium shows, a teen science cafe and skywatching.
The Chapel Hill museum at University Place is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., today.
