NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Stacy Roest scored twice, including the game-winner with 8:45 left, as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Nashville Predators 3-1 Saturday night to remain unbeaten in the preseason.
Roest snapped a 1-1 tie with a wrist shot that went between Nashville goaltender Tomas Vokoun’s legs from the left side. Brendan Shanahan picked up his second assist of the game on the play.
Roest added an empty-net goal in the final minute.
The Predators, who twice hit the goalpost in the first period, remained winless in seven preseason games (0-5-2-0).
Chris Osgood made 27 saves for Detroit, which has outscored its opponents 23-9 in the preseason in running up a 6-0-1 record. Martin Lapointe added a pair of assists.
Vyacheslav Kozlov put the Red Wings ahead 11:14 into the game. Kozlov’s power-play goal beat Vokoun to the stick side from the right circle, off a feed from Shanahan.
An apparent tying goal by Nashville’s Tom Fitzgerald at the end of the first period was ruled to have been scored after the buzzer. Ville Peltonen finally did tie the game 11:47 into the second. His power-play goal was a high wrist shot from the right circle.
It was the first preseason game ever at the Gaylord Entertainment Center, formerly known as Nashville Arena. The second-year Predators did not play any home exhibition games last season.
