Kirkwood’s Massey commits to Mizzou
Kirkwood High wide receiver Maurice Massey became the fourth player to give Missouri a verbal commitment this week, picking the Tigers over Illinois in a video he posted on Twitter.
In the video, Massey teased fans of both schools before making his final choice. He wore an Illinois sweatshirt that changes into a Mizzou shirt. Later, he holds an Illinois backpack, out from which he pulls a Mizzou shirt to announce his commitment.
The three-star wideout caught 54 passes for 964 yards and scored 13 total touchdowns as a junior at Francis Howell North last fall then transferred to Kirkwood in November. Massey is rated the state’s 12th-best player by 247Sports.com and the nation’s 67th-best receiver.
Massey gives Mizzou 10 commitments for 2019 and two from the St. Louis area, along with Lutheran North offensive lineman Jack Buford. The Tigers failed to sign a single high school recruit from the St. Louis in each of their last two recruiting classes.
