9 charged in yearlong probe of drugs in southern Indiana

November 9, 2018

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) — Nine people have been charged in an investigation of drugs, burglaries and car thefts in Bartholomew County.

Police say some allegations involve efforts to get drugs into the county jail.

Columbus police Lt. Matt Harris says detectives have been investigating the group for more than a year. The nine — seven men and two women — are described as allies of a white supremacist group, but race doesn’t appear to be a factor in the alleged crimes.

Harris says the allegations are “unsettling” for many residents in southern Indiana.
