Mitch McConnell’s reelection team offers up ‘Cocaine Mitch’-inspired T-shirt
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is using one of the more memorable attacks leveled against him to his political advantage on the campaign trail in 2020, rolling on a “Cocaine Mitch”-inspired T-shirt.
The political attire plays off the nickname that Don Blankenship coined during his failed Senate bid last year in West Virginia, where he vowed to “ditch Cocaine Mitch” alluding to a 2014 report that 90 pounds of cocaine were found on a cargo ship own by a company founded and owned by Mr. McConnell’s father-in-law.
The T-shirt features a faceless portrait of Mr. McConnell in a black button-down shirt with the collar undone with white dust decorated the air around him.
It reads “MITCH” on the front and “Team Mitch Cartel Member” on the back, and is selling for $35 on his campaign website.
“A year ago, a legend was born,” the McConnell campaign wrote on Twitter. “Own your own piece of history. #CocaineMitch.”
