Audrey Hepburn Released From Hospital After Cancer Surgery

November 12, 1992

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Audrey Hepburn was released Thursday from a hospital, where the actress had a cancerous tumor and part of her colon removed.

Miss Hepburn was in good condition, said Ron Wise, a spokesman for Cedars- Sinai Medical Center.

Miss Hepburn, 63, entered Cedars-Sinai on Oct. 30 complaining of stomach problems believed to be associated with her recent visit to Somalia as goodwill ambassador for UNICEF.

Doctors found a tumor on her colon. On Nov. 1, they removed the growth, along with a small portion of the colon.

″There is a strong feeling that surgeons removed all of the tumor and none of her organs were compromised. They feel they got all of the malignancy,″ Wise said.

Miss Hepburn, whose movies include ″Breakfast at Tiffany’s,″ ″Roman Holiday″ and ″My Fair Lady,″ has been away from Hollywood for years.

She has traveled the world for UNICEF for six years.
