PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Grammy nominee Jill Scott has been hospitalized with a lung infection, an illness that has forced her to miss the first few dates as the opening act on Sting’s tour.

Karen Taylor, a spokeswoman for the R&B singer, said Scott was suffering from a 102-degree fever when she was admitted to the hospital Sunday morning. She was scheduled to perform at the kickoff of Sting’s tour on Saturday in Washington.

Scott is expected to join the tour soon, Taylor said, but it’s unknown when she’ll be released from the hospital. Doctors expect her to make a full recovery.

Taylor said the 28-year-old singer became sick after an allergy developed into a bad cold, and then the lung infection.

Scott’s debut album, ``Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1,″ earned her three Grammy nominations this year and has sold more than 1 million copies.
