Auction to benefit Habitat for Humanity

HUNTINGTON — A family in the Highlawn area of Huntington will be the beneficiaries of a dessert auction for Habitat for Humanity.

Bidding on desserts will be done via Facebook from Friday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Aug. 31. Bidders may do so any time during those days.

Some local businesses that have donated desserts are Sweet Street Bakery in Lavalette, Nu-Era bakery in Logan, Peace, Love & Little Donuts, and pies will be donated by Jim’s Steak & Spaghetti.

Anyone who wants to take part in the auction can follow the link to the website to join the group, or call Beard Mortuary at 304-522-8253 to be added. All desserts need to be dropped off at Beard Mortuary, 3001 Third Ave., before 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31. Desserts may be created on this day or the day before to ensure freshness.

Auction winners can pick up their desserts between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Community of Grace United Methodist Church, 28th Street and Third Avenue in Huntington.
