Miracle 88, Shock 78

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ Nykesha Sales had 20 points and seven assists to lead all the Orlando starters in double figures as the Miracle tied a season-high scoring output in an 88-78 victory over the Detroit Shock on Wednesday night.

Taj McWilliams had 19 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots for Orlando, which shot 56.9 percent from the field (37-for-65), while Cintia Dos Santos had a career-high 17 points and five blocks. Shannon Johnson contributed 15 points and Adrienne Johnson had 12 for the Miracle.

Orlando (14-8) led by at least 10 points and as many as 23 in the second half.

The Shock (10-11) shot 40.3 percent for the game (27-for-67) and made 17 of 22 free throws. Detroit outrebounded Orlando 36-22.

Claudia Maria das Neve had 19 points for Detroit, while Wendy Palmer scored 15 and Astou Ndiaye-Diatta added 11.

Detroit trailed 85-64 with 4:15 remaining, then closed the game with a 14-3 run.

Orlando lost reserve guard Elaine Powell with 5:14 left in the first half when she landed awkwardly on a drive to the basket. Powell was carried off the floor and the team said she had ``possible″ ligament and cartilage tears in her knee.

Orlando led 30-23 when Powell was injured and finished the half on a 14-6 run to lead 44-29.
