May 9, 2019

SCRANTON — A Green Ridge section man faces charges in the assault of a 71-year-old man that was captured on video.

Ramon Sanabria, 18, of 1603 Monsey Ave., surrendered to city police today and was charged with simple assault and harassment.

Sanabria is accused of pushing Robert Jones to the ground on Wednesday afternoon outside the victim’s home in the 1300 block of Penn Avenue in what police say was a dispute over a parking space.

Jones hit his head on a concrete decoration in his yard when he fell, causing him to lose consciousness for several minutes, police said.

The incident was captured on the family’s security camera and posted online in an attempt to identify the suspect.

Police said Sanabria turned himself in, explaining that he had to take responsibility for his actions.

Sanabria was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kipp Adcock and held in Lackawanna County Prison on $15,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.
