Kingman man faces felony child abuse charges
A Kingman man is facing felony child abuse charges after the Kingman Police Department said he beat his son with three different items, including a metal broom stick.
According to Deputy Chief Rusty Cooper, Kingman Police arrested Kenneth T. McIntire, 30, last Thursday, on felony charges of child abuse and aggravated assault.
Earlier that day, a 13-year old middle school student was found to have severe bruising and welts to his lower body. A School Resource Officer began the investigation which resulted in McIntire, the boy’s father, being contacted and ultimately arrested and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
Investigators served a search warrant at the home and recovered the items, which also included a piece of PVC pipe and a belt, used to strike the 13-year-old.
The Arizona Department of Child Safety is assisting in the investigation. The child was placed into protective custody by DCS.
According to jail records, McIntire is being held on $50,000 bail.
