Ex-cop pleads guilty to 2017 homicide-by-vehicle crash

Adam Soto, who was an off-duty police officer when the car he was driving struck and killed a pedestrian in Northeast Philadelphia in January 2017, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a felony charge of homicide by vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Assistant District Attorney Cydney Pope said after the hearing that surveillance video indicated that Soto, who was driving a Subaru sports car on Cottman Avenue, “appeared to be racing” with another vehicle at the time. Philadelphia Police Adam Soto.
