Undated (AP) _ New York Rangers at Pittsburgh (7:35 p.m. EST). The Rangers, having lost six in a row, visit the Pittsburgh Civic Center for the first time since Jan. 3. Pittsburgh, which leads the Rangers by a point in the race for first place in the Patrick Division, is 12-0-1 in its last 13 home games. STATS

Brett Hull scored his 80th goal of the season in St. Louis’ 2-1 win over Washington, making him only the third player to reach the 80-goal mark. Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky are the others. ... Hall of Famer Guy Lafleur had his 559th career goal in Quebec’s loss to Edmonton. STREAKS

New Jersey’s 5-4 win over Pittsburgh ended the Penguins’ seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1). ... St. Louis’ win over Washington ended the Blues’ six-game winless streak. SHOTS ON GOAL

Hartford managed a team-record one shot on goal in the first period against Boston. The Whalers took 12 shots at Andy Moog, but eight were blocked and three went wide. ... Boston’s Dave Christian scored on the Bruins’ first shot against Hartford, but Kay Whitmore stopped the next 26. SLUMPS

Washington has not beaten St. Louis at home since Nov. 29, 1988 and is 0-4-2 overall against the Blues since February 1989. ... Quebec has lost five of its last six games. SWINGS

The St. Louis Blues got their two goals against Washington from remarkably different players. Brett Hull got the first one, his 80th of the season. The other was scored by Kelly Chase, a recent recall from the minors who had scored just once in 44 previous NHL games. STARS Tuesday

Vancouver goaltender Troy Gamble sustained another concussion Tuesday when he took a shot in the face mask during Tuesday’s practice and will be out for a week. It’s the fourth time this season he’s been knocked out of the lineup with a concussion. STATUS

Philadelphia’s Tony Horacek will miss the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs because of an eye injury sustained when he was hit by a puck in practice. He had three goals and six assists in 34 games this season. SIGNINGS

Troy Neumeier of Prince Albert signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks. The 19-year-old defenseman was chosen in the 10th round of the 1990 entry draft. SCOUTING

Michel Picard scored three goals, including the game-winner with 1:31 remaining, to power Springfield (Whalers) to a 5-2 victory over Baltimore (Capitals) in an AHL game Tuesday night. Picard scored again in the final minute to give him 50 for the season. SPEAKING

1976-The Buffalo Sabres set a team record by limiting the Kansas City Scouts to eight shots on goal.

1984 - Edmonton’s Glenn Anderson scored his 50th goal of the season as the Oilers beat the Hartford Whalers 5-3. The Oilers became the first NHL team to have three 50-goal scorers in one season. Wayne Gretzky and Jari Kurri reached the 50-goal mark earlier in the season.
