Florence man charged in Thursday shooting

FLORENCE, S.C. -- One person was injured and a second arrested following an early Thursday morning shooting in the 900 Block of Harmony Street.

Florence Police responded to the reported shooting about 1 a.m. and arrived to find a victim with an apparently gunshot wound, according to a release issued by the agency. The victim was transported to a Florence area hospital for treatment and discharged.

“Officers learned the victim and Gary McCullum (58 of 1101 Harmony Street) had a disagreement at a residence. Mr. McCullum allegedly retrieved a firearm and fired several shots toward the ground near the victim, injuring the victim,” according to the release.

McCullum was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and battery, discharging a firearm in the city limits and possession of stolen property, according to the release.

He is currently being held without bond at the Florence County Detention Center, according to the center’s Website.
