No. 19 Tulane 91, Southern Miss. 77

NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ Salome Hector came off the bench to score a career-high 29 points and lead No. 19 Tulane to a 91-77 victory over Southern Mississippi on Monday night.

Hector hit her first 13 free throws, and 14 of 16 on the night. She also shot 7-of-9 from the field.

Before Monday, Hector had never scored more than 10 points in a game.

Southern Miss (6-6) trailed only 42-39 at the half. Tulane (12-0) broke the game open when Janell Burse scored six points as part of a 10-0 run that made the score 80-63 with 5:18 left.

Burse finished with 28 points and 20 rebounds, while Grace Daley scored 11.

Tulane’s 12-game win streak is one short of tying a Conference USA record.

Angela Johnson and Angela Atterberry led Southern Miss with 16 points each, followed by Jessica Woods with 15 and Krystal Courtney with 10.

Atterberry also grabbed 13 rebounds, but missed all five shots she attempted from 3-point range.

Tulane shot 50 percent from the field for the game, while Southern Miss hit 35 percent of its shots.
