EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — There’s nothing like the freshly-laundered scent of _ a SNAKE? An animal control warden near Chicago says an escaped pet snake “smelled like Downy” after it survived a run though a suburban family’s washing machine last week. A veterinarian who checked it out says the reptile was “in pretty good shape” and “really feisty.” An animal hospital says the corn snake, named Penelope, belonged to a 12-year-old boy who lives nearby. They have since been reunited.
