Helen Knopf, Author and Publisher’s Widow, Dead at 92

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) _ Helen Hedrick Knopf, an author and the widow of New York publisher Alfred A. Knopf, has died at age 92.

Mrs. Knopf died Saturday at Providence Hospital & Medical Center.

Her poems and stories appeared in The New Yorker, Harper’s, Atlantic Monthly, Liberty, Colliers, and the Saturday Evening Post.

Her story ``The Road Kid″ earned her the O. Henry Best Short Story award in the late 1930s. Her only book, ``The Blood Remembers,″ was published by Knopf in 1941.

She is survived by three daughters, a son and 11 grandchildren.
