Harlingen police officer involved in auto pedestrian accident
HARLINGEN - A Harlingen police officer on patrol struck a woman who darted out on the street just north of downtown.
The accident happened at around 9:30 p.m. on the 700 block of North First Street near the intersection of Lee Street.
The officer himself called in the accident to dispatchers.
According to police, the woman was crossing First Street when she was struck by the southbound patrol car.
The officer was on patrol and not headed to an emergency. The victim, who is said to be in her early 60s, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
