Philly-area Catholic high school teachers won’t have new pact before contract expires midnight

Despite nine hours of negotiations Friday, a new agreement will not be reached between Philadelphia-area Catholic high school teachers and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia before the existing contract expires at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

This is the second consecutive year that negotiations between the 650-member Association of Catholic Teachers and the archdiocese have breezed past its expiration date. This time last year, the two sides bargained through Labor Day weekend before finally reaching an agreement one day before students returned to classes.
