Valparaiso 80, Cent. Connecticut St. 63

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) _ Dave Redmon scored 19 points and Charles Ensminger added 13 Saturday as Valparaiso beat Central Connecticut State 80-63 for its 10th consecutive win.

Valparaiso (16-6, 12-2 in the Mid-Continent Conference) jumped out to a 28-15 lead with 10:45 to play in the first half, and the Blue Devils (7-14, 5-8) couldn’t get any closer than 10 points the rest of the game.

After leading 48-29 at halftime, Valparaiso built its largest lead, 70-44, with 5:13 to play on a 3-pointer by Gerry Lorenzi.

Ensminger scored 11 of his points in the first half. Anthony Allison added 12 for the Crusaders.

Keith Closs scored 15 and Michael Donnelly added 12 for Central Connecticut State. Robert Burrage and Desmond Artis each scored 10.

Valparaiso shot 65 percent on 20-of-31 shooting in the first half and finished at 56 percent for the game. The Blue Devils shot 45 percent on 26-of-58 shooting.
