Trahan Extends Lead in 3rd District Recount
Third District Congressional candidate Lori Trahan has picked up three votes in municipal recounts, extending her lead over Dan Koh to 125 votes.
Clerks in Methuen and Berlin reported that Trahan received one additional vote in hand counts on Thursday. Ashburnham’s recount yielded no change.
On Friday morning, Carlisle completed its recount, in which Koh lost one vote.
Certified results showed Trahan with a 122-vote lead in the Democratic primary. Koh’s camp gathered enough signatures to request a recount.
Thirty-seven communities must complete their recounts in this race. Sixteen more communities were scheduled to hold their recounts Friday.
Secretary of State William Galvin has set a deadline of Monday at 5 p.m. for all communities to conclude the recount.
Based on numbers from communities that have conducted recounts, Trahan’s vote total is 18,529, Koh’s 18,404.
