Event salutes neighborhoods, urban forests

RNeighbors will celebrate neighborhoods and urban forests Sunday during the Lumber Jack & Jane Forest Fest.

The three-hour event, which starts at noon at Kinney Creek Brewery, 1016 Seventh St. NW, will feature a variety of lumber-themed activities and an auction of experience-themed items.

Additionally, the event will honor the organization’s Neighbor Award winners:

• Consider it Done award: Debbie Dukart of the Eastside Neighborhood Association

• Welcome Wagon award: Lowertown (formally Northrop) Neighborhood Association

• Rookie of the Year award: Clint Kelly of the Homestead Trails Neighborhood Association

• Lumber Jack and Jill Urban Forestry awards: Jesse and Tahnee Hoekstra and Aaron Stelpflug

Event tickets can be purchased at eventbrite.com for $20 or at the door for $25. The cost covers food and one drink.
