Fun Never Ends

LEOMINSTER -- Week 2 has come to an end, but new exciting programs were introduced at the Boys & Girls Club Summer Blast program.
Mythbusters is a program in which the Juniors class tested a myth to determine if it really was a myth. Their challenge was to test if it is possible to make sturdy rope out of toilet paper. This challenge made the campers think of strategies and how to work in groups as well. Even though only one group was successful, we were glad everyone participated and busted the myth.
Many campers love to express themselves, and what better way of doing that than by using art? During art class, the Juniors held a contest to see who could color the most creative piece. The campers had lots of fun doing crazy unique drawings.
Science played a great role in this week’s programs, with an experiment about a balloon with vinegar in a tube and baking soda in a balloon that created an air rocket. The balloon was then attached to the tube, and baking soda was dropped into the tube, creating a reaction. The reaction then filled the balloon with gas, and it was very exciting to see.
When Thursday came along, everyone was very excited. The Sprouts’ class stayed at the club playing a variety of water games. While the Sprouts were having fun at the club, the Juniors traveled to Camp Collier in Gardner.
They all had a blast with the many activities from which to choose, including swimming, canoeing, and sports and bracelet-making. Everyone had such a great time, and we all cannot wait to go back next Thursday.
As the week came to an end, everyone was treated to a snow cone to cool off from the heat. These past two weeks have shown that the next four weeks will be a blast to remember.
As the weeks go on, we hope to see new faces join us for a great summer.
