Joey Chestnut takes Buffalo chicken wing eating title
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Competitive eating titan Joey “Jaws” Chestnut has downed 206 chicken wings in 12 minutes to notch a repeat win in an annual championship in Buffalo, New York.
The National Buffalo Wing Festival tweeted the results of Sunday’s contest.
Geoffrey Esper of Oxford, Massachusetts, took second place by eating 194 wings. Darron Breeden of Orange, Virginia, came in third with 182.
Chestnut has won several times before, including last year, when he swallowed 220 wings .
The chomping champ from San Jose, California, is best known for his multiple wins in the Nathan’s Famous July Fourth hot dog eating contest on New York City’s Coney Island. He set a new record — 74 dogs and buns in 10 minutes — to earn his 11th win this year.
