Police: Man swipes ambulance amid burglary investigation
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a man climbed into an ambulance in Mobile, Alabama, and led officers on a brief chase that included at least one shot fired by officers.
A police news release says officers investigating a restaurant burglary Friday morning found a man with cuts and scratches, so a private ambulance was used to take him to a hospital.
The statement says the man climbed into a Mobile Fire and Rescue ambulance at the hospital and drove away. An officer fired at least one shot before authorities managed to stop the vehicle at an intersection.
No one was shot, but authorities took the man back to a hospital.
Police haven’t released the man’s name or any charges. But they say he will be arrested and taken to jail after treatment.
