Tough Night for Team New England Boxers

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Team New England had a tough day at the National Golden Gloves Tournament on Tuesday, losing three out of four bouts.

The lone winner was Marc Solis, of Clinton, Conn., in a 152-pound contest. He defeated Amir Mason, of Cleveland, Ohio, in a 3-2 decision.

In the 132-pound class, Josh Foster, of New Haven, Conn., dropped a 5-0 decision against Doctress Robinson, of Augusta, Ga. Jesse Bantanda, of Nashua, N.H., lost a 178-pound match to Kahyelian Woods, of Indianapolis, Ind., by way of a 4-1 decision.

And in a 201-pound bout, Stephen Moss, of Holyoke, lost to Deandre Savage when the fight was stopped at the 1:33 mark in the third round.

Moss had won the first two rounds.

Action continues on Wednesday with 28 bouts on the schedule.
