LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) _ Brian Green scored 23 points and Damien Edwards added 20 Saturday night to lead Nevada to a 79-75 victory over Long Beach State, knocking the 49ers out of first place in the Big West Conference.

The loss was only the third in 21 games for Long Beach State since The Pyramid, the school’s on-campus arena, opened in November 1994. And it snapped a nine-game Long Beach winning streak over Nevada.

Daniel Watts added 15 points for the Wolf Pack (11-5, 3-3 Big West).

Green entered the game as the Big West’s second-leading scorer with a 19.3-point average. Edwards was averaging just 7.5 points coming in.

Reserve Eric Brown led Long Beach State (8-6, 3-2) with 16 points, and Rasul Salahuddin added 15 points for the 49ers. But the two combined to make just eight of their 24 field goal attempts and were 4-of-13 from 3-point range.

Akeli Jackson added 14 points and James Cotton scored 12 for Long Beach. Cotton was the Big West’s leading scorer entering the game with a 20.7-point average.

Nevada made only 10 field goals in the second half, but went 22-of-27 from the foul line. Overall, the Wolf Pack made 27 of its 35 free throws while Long Beach was 23-of-33. Nevada made 24 of its 59 field goal attempts while the 49ers were 23-of-56.
