Power restored for thousands in eastern Allegheny County

October 13, 2018

Duquesne Light says power for thousands in Pittsburgh’s east end and neighboring communities was restored just after 10 p.m. Monday.

A few customers still were without power, but the company hoped to have their service restored shortly.

The company said about 600 were without electrical service in both Braddock and Squirrel Hill, as well as more than 500 in Swissvale.

Other larger outages were in Braddock, Chalfant, Forest Hills, Greenfield, Scott, Wilkins and Wilkinsburg.

Allegheny County emergency services said a transmission line was lying on the ground at Talbot Avenue and First Street in Braddock.

No explanation was given for how the power line was knocked out.
