Bentley student gets laughs for take on selfies: “chinfies”
BOSTON (AP) — First it was the selfie. Now, it’s the “chinfie.”
Bentley University student Michelle Liu is developing an international following for posing in front of famous buildings and landmarks, like the Eiffel Tower, while pushing her chin back to contort her face. She then adds a goofy grin for good measure, an expression she calls “chinning.”
The 21-year-old Chelmsford, Massachusetts native tells the Boston Globe she began mugging for the camera back in middle school. She kept getting laughs through high school and college, so she decided to reprise her chinfies while studying in Vienna.
Her Instagram fanbase has since grown, with 58,000 people following her in the last few weeks. She’s been featured on popular websites and “The Morning Show” in Australia.
Liu says she’s “blown away” by the response.
