Marie Brasda, 54, passed away peacefully at her home in Portage, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born Oct. 27, 1964, in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Michael and Nancy (Thompson) Borish. She married Andy Brasda on Aug. 7, 2000, in Vermillion, South Dakota. Marie worked as a data processor for a commercial compliance company, Fleet Worthy. She was a loving mother and wife who loved to read and swim. She enjoyed spending money on her grandchildren and loved the little mermaid. Marie also liked crocheting and cross stitching, especially finding patterns and creating special items for family and friends. She enjoyed baking, especially making fudge and cookies for Christmas.
She is survived by her husband, Andy Brasda, of Portage; mother, Nancy Borish, of Pardeeville; sons, Nathan (Sam) Murray, of Portage, Shayne Brasda, of Arlington; brothers, Thomas (Lynn) Borish, of Clarksville, Tennessee, Joseph (Kelly) Borish, of Portage; aunt, Nola Branton, of Portage; uncles, Larry (Dee) Thompson, of Minnesota, Duane (Marcey) Thompson, of Oxford, and Kevin (Margaret) Ebert, of Montello; grandchildren, Austin, Sterling, Zachary; great-aunt, Leora Tomlinson; and her puppy, Mickey; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Borish; uncles, Stanley Borish, Vernon and Harlan Ebert; aunt, Judy (Mike) Lewison; grandparents, Lucille and Henry Ebert, Michael and Helen Borish; great-grandparents, John and Nettie Morgan and Bobby Romanski.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. Gloria Stubitsch officiating. Private inurnment will be at Pacific Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
