Orangemen, Lady O cross country win home meet

For the second consecutive year, the Beatrice boys and girls cross country teams won the Beatrice Invite.

The boys team finished with a score of 33 on Thursday, which put them ahead of both Waverly and Falls City, who finished with scores of 39. Tri County finished fourth, Wilber-Clatonia finished fifth, Raymond Central finished sixth and Syracuse finished seventh.

The girls team finished with a score of 22, which put them ahead of Tri County’s 28 and Waverly’s 37. Wilber-Clatonia finished fourth.

Tri County’s Creighton Niemeyer won the individual boys championship. He finished ahead second place Braden Kobza of Falls City and third place Tommy Lokken of Wilber-Clatonia. Conrad Schroeder of Waverly finished fourth.

Beatrice’s top boys finisher was Noah Hagemeier, who finished fifth. He started a line of three straight Beatrice finishers. Dylan Diehl finished sixth and Evan Oltmans finished eighth.

Coming in next for Beatrice was Connor Hamilton at 15th while Devin Smith finished 20th, Devon Busboom finished 21st and Tanner York finished 23rd.

Tri County’s next best finisher after Niemeyer was Evan Larson finishing eighth. Logan Larson finished 13th and Krayten Uher finished 28th.

Wilber-Clatonia’s next best finisher by Lokken was Luke Sykes, who finished 30th.

On the girls side, Beatrice’s Veronica Pinkerton finished runner-up behind Ellie Wilkinson of Syracuse. Alex Danson finished third while Tri County’s Andie Koch and Ella Crawford finished fourth and fifth.

Beatrice’s next best finisher behind Pinkerton was Trinity Eichenberger, Josie Guernsey and Lauren Pieper finished eighth, ninth and 10th respectively.

Sarah Price finished 13th for the Lady O while Linda Humble finished 14th.

Tri County’s next best finisher behind Koch and Crawford was Savanah Gerlach finishing 11th. Madison Kirchoff finished 15th and Claira Janssen finished 27th.

Wilber-Clatonia’s top girls finisher was Karlie Cerveny finishing 17th while Mikayla Pecka finished 19th.

The Beatrice cross country teams will be in action again next Friday when they travel to the Aurora Invite.
