Hairspray comes to LCC

Based on the music and lyrics from Marc Shaiman and Scott Whitman, the musical “Hairspray” focuses on Tracy Turnblad in living in 1962 Baltimore, Md., and her audition for The Corny Collins Show.

After winning a spot on the show, Tracy discovers that becoming an overnight celebrity can lead to social change that the nation needs to see.

Presented by Kankakee High School, “Hairspray” is coming to a stage near you this weekend, with just two shows at the Lincoln Cultural Center (240 Warren Ave., Kankakee), both at 7 p.m., Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16.

Tickets can be purchased at the door the evening of the show. Student prices are $7 and adult prices are $10.
