KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Authorities in North Carolina say the body of a woman found in a wrecked car is that of a mother of two who was reported missing in February.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports Winston-Salem police say a Forsyth County sheriff’s deputy received a report on Monday of a vehicle partially submerged in water. Officials confirmed the body was that of 30-year-old Kristen Leigh McNeil, who was last seen leaving her home after telling her family she was stepping out for a moment.

N.C. Highway Patrol says McNeil’s car ran off the road in a curve, veered to the other side and went down an embankment, coming to rest partially submerged in a stream.

An autopsy on McNeal’s body will be conducted by the state Office of the Medical Examiner.
