HFD to unveil Marshall green engine
HUNTINGTON — Next month, the Huntington Fire Department plans to unveil a kelly green fire truck that will celebrate Marshall University and honor the victims of the 1970 plane crash.
Members of the fire department got their first look at the new Fire Engine No. 2, which is being built to specifications, on Tuesday. It was approved by City Council in June 2018 with money set aside in the fiscal year 2018-19 budget.
During a budget hearing in March, Fire Chief Jan Rader said new trucks take approximately a year to build and this one will be delivered to Huntington by the end of June. It cost approximately $525,000 after being outfitted with necessary equipment.
