RENO, Nev. (AP) _ Rep. John Ensign, granted a statewide recount in his razor-thin loss to Sen. Harry Reid, wants all 96,000 ballots in Washoe County counted by hand, his spokesman said Thursday.

Ensign, a Republican, lost to the two-term Democrat by 401 votes. Secretary of State Dean Heller on Wednesday granted his request for a recount.

The Nevada Supreme Court certified Reid's victory last week.

In Washoe County, computer crashes and irregularities in absentee ballots delayed final results until nine days after the election.
