National Signing Day: Marshall football

HUNTINGTON - Marshall signed much of its recruiting class back in December, but the football program added a few more signees to its Class of 2019 as part of National Signing Day on Wednesday.

Here are those added on Wednesday:

9:48 a.m.: Dante Walker, DL, 6-3, 240, Cedar Grove, Riverdale, Ga.

Walker, who was previously committed to Arkansas, is rated a four-star prospect by ESPN.com. Boasted strong metrics numbers with a 4.82 shuttle and a vertical of 27.4 inches. He also had offers from Alabama, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

8:27 a.m.: Esaias Carpenter, DL, 6-3, 280, Butler Comm. College, Wichita, Kansas.

Carpenter, who has two years of eligibility left, had 43 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss at Butler C.C. last season. He squats 560 pounds and benches 360 while running the 40 in 4.7 seconds. Also offered by Akron.

7:06 a.m.: Knowledge McDaniel, RB, 5-11, 215, Braden River, Bradenton, Fla.

McDaniel is a three-star prospect who split as a running back and wide receiver at Braden River and earned the Bradenton Herald’s 2017 Offensive Player of the Year honors. McDaniel had a laundry list of offers from Power Five schools, including Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Nebraska, North Carolina, Louisville and Kentucky.

7:01 a.m.: T.J. Johnson, DL, 6-6, 240, Independent Comm. College, Southfield, Mich.

Johnson is already enrolled at Marshall and will have two years of eligibility left. At Independence C.C., Johnson had 44 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss with three sacks while forcing two fumbles and recovering one fumble in only seven games. Also had offers from Memphis, Tulane and UAB out of Independence. Went to Bradford Academy H.S. before attending Minnesota.
