The following preliminary hearings are scheduled before District Judge Susan Mankamyer in Boswell:

Driving under the influence

James Gary Jr., 26, 1st Street, Stoystown, has been charged with two counts of driving under the influence and seven summary offenses. According to a probable-cause affidavit, at about 11:20 p.m. June 9 state police stopped a vehicle driven by Gary along South Pine Street in Stoystown Borough for multiple traffic violations. A blood test showed that Gary had marijuana in his system at the time of the stop, according to the affidavit. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 3.

Harassment

John Picoulas, 34, Lake Shore Road, Friedens, has been charged with harassment, terroristic threats, marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia possession and a summary offense. According to a probable-cause affidavit, on Aug. 4 state police were notified that Picoulas sent text messages to family members saying he was going to shoot his parents and himself. An involuntary commitment order was issued for Picoulas, and he was later stopped in a vehicle along Route 160 north of Route 31. Police found marijuana, eight unlabeled pill capsules and a glass smoking device with residue in the vehicle, according to the affidavit. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Oct. 3.
