Woman Killed Outside Hospital
LOMA LINDA, Calif. (AP) _ A woman was shot to death outside the Loma Linda University Medical Center emergency room Sunday by a man who fled with her child, authorities said.
The woman, who was shot in the emergency room’s parking lot, was taken inside the hospital for treatment, but died soon afterward, said Loma Linda spokeswoman Anita Rockwell.
She was identified as Ingacia Manriquez, 29, of Coachella, said San Bernadino County Deputy Coroner Steve Foster.
She had arrived at the hospital seeking treatment for herself and her child, who were both suffering from flu symptoms, officials said.
The gunman, who was believed to be the woman’s husband, left with her 4- year-old son, said San Bernardino County sheriff’s dispatcher Debby Holman.
The killing marked the second violent outburst at a Southern California hospital within the week.
On Monday, a disgruntled patient opened fire inside the emergency room of Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, critically injuring three doctors and holding two people hostage for hours.
