Prepare for the unexpected as September is National Preparedness Month
LINCOLN - The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency is encouraging you to prepare for unexpected weather as September is National Preparedness month.
Preparedness Section Manager Nikki Weber says the campaign started to get the word out for you to understand your hazards and risks, but more importantly taking action.
“Make an evacuation plan, build a preparedness kit, educate your loved ones on how to get one packed and ready to go, gather important papers, and talk with your neighbors to help spread the word.”
Weber encourages you to have a disaster supplies kit of basic items your household may need in the event of an emergency.
She also says consider using a buddy system with nearby families, to help and support one another in the case of extreme emergencies.
