Elderly man found dead in SUV crashed into lake during storm
WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say an 85-year-old man found dead this week inside an SUV that was partially submerged in a New Jersey lake apparently crashed during a heavy rain storm.
West Windsor police say the accident occurred around 9 p.m. Sunday.
They say Calvin Madison was driving alone in a parking area near a rowing center at Mercer County Lake and was trying to find an exit when the SUV went into the area of the rowing center’s docks. The vehicle then inadvertently entered the lake, causing the side impact air bag to deploy.
The Ewing man tried unsuccessfully to get out of the vehicle. He was found around 8:30 a.m. Monday when police responded to reports of a vehicle in the lake.
