Milford stabbing victim arrested for assault

MILFORD-It began as a domestic violence investigation and ended with the suspect being stabbed in the leg behind the public library.

Now William Cordell, 30, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa faces two counts of second-degree assault as well as individual counts of second-degree breach of peace and disorderly conduct. He is being held on $11,000 bond pending an appearance in Superior court

Police said they were called to a motel on Woodmont Road shortly before 10 p.m. Monday. There a victim claimed to have been struck in the face by Cordell. By the time police arrived, Cordell had left.

Shortly after that police were called to a fight behind the Milford Library which was closed Monday because of the Veteran’s Day holiday. There a male admitted to stabbing Cordell in the leg with a pocket knife in self-defense. He claimed Cordell punched him in the face and kicked him in the stomach knocking him to the ground.

The second victim has not be arrested.
