Orphan Grain Train looking to expand
NORFOLK - The Orphan Grain Train is seeking to swap some property with the City of Norfolk.
During Monday night’s city council meeting, Vice President Grant Schmidt told council members the agreement is asking the City to transfer property located on the southwest corner of 6th Street and Madison Avenue in consideration for the transfer of property located on the west side of 7th Street between Phillip and Park Avenue from the Orphan Grain Train.
Schmidt said the plan is to level the old dairy building and the adjacent parking lot will help with receiving and shipping products.
He said the transfer also gives them the opportunity to use the parking lot for future expansion of volunteers and have Mercy Meals move to that property.
It was asked the council table a decision until the next meeting which they complied with a unanimous vote.
