Gonzaga’s Donny Daniels selected for induction into assistant coaches Hall of Fame

March 5, 2019

Gonzaga’s Donny Daniels is one of 12 slated for induction to the A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame inaugural 2019 class.

Daniels has made trips to the Final Four as an assistant at Gonzaga, UCLA and Utah. He’s in his ninth season with the Zags, who have won eight WCC regular-season championships and reached nine NCAA Tournaments during Daniels’ time on the staff.

A STEP UP, an acronym for Athletic Symposium To Elevate Professionals and Uplift Performance, is celebrating 10 years of providing professional development for coaches by creating a Hall of Fame for assistants.

Ceremonies will be held May 7 in Atlanta.

Daniels is among the Division I inductees with UConn’s Chris Dailey, Mickie DeMoss (retired), Florida State’s Stan Jones, Notre Dame’s Carol Owens, North Carolina’s Steve Robinson, Michigan State’s Dwayne Stephens and Stanford’s Amy Tucker.

Two Division II and two Division III assistants also will be inducted.

Daniels played at Cal State Fullerton and later was program’s head coach from 2001-03.
