SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) — Interpol agents in the Dominican Republic have taken into custody a suspected German fugitive in a popular tourist town of the Caribbean country.

A Monday statement from Interpol says 24-year-old Dominik Roland Goeppner was detained in the northern beach town of Sosua. The German national is sought in his home country on various fraud charges.

He was allegedly using five different identities and phony identification to evade authorities.

Dominican authorities say the suspect had been living in Sosua for about a year.
