Ohio Matters Election minisode - Debates, strip clubs and Kavanaugh
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The debates are in the books for one statewide race, but they’re just getting started for another.
Democratic former federal consumer watchdog Richard Cordray and Republican Attorney General Mike DeWine finished off the last of three gubernatorial debates on Monday. But Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci will begin this Sunday with the first of three forums in what many believe has turned into a lopsided race in Brown’s favor.
This week on the latest minisode of the Ohio Matters podcast, political reporters Andrew Tobias and Seth Richardson and women’s issues reporter Mary Kilpatrick discuss what the races look like with early voting underway in Ohio.
Cordray and DeWine have continued their contentious competition, lobbing attacks at one another over key issues.
Meanwhile, the Senate race has had a number of strange stories, including Renacci’s use of a strip club owner’s plane to fly and meet with faith leaders and Republicans’ chagrin at the congressman waiting to go up on television until this week with an ad attacking Brown over his divorce.
Plus, Kilpatrick provides a breakdown on the sentiment – and fallout – of the Senate hearings to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Check out past episodes of Ohio Matters, including full length episodes with Cordray, DeWine and Brown. Ohio Matters initially had an episode scheduled with Renacci before the congressman backed out the week of recording.
